What do you do in daily life?
My work is in the domain of safety and security, trying to make the world a better and safer place. Or at least have the illusion to contribute to that.
What got you into latex?
One of my earlier relationships, where my partner experimented with bondage and trying to find information on the internet, a mental link was established with up to that point ignored preferences for the shiny parts.
How long have you been into latex?
That must be above and beyond 2 decades.
How often do you rubber up?
Latex or kink are always ‘in the proximity’, meaning that the option to dress up or to just add a latex garment piece to the daily outfit is present. The ‘heavy rubber’ (as it is mysteriously called) or entire latex outfits are usually for play or for events of course. Just adding a rubber jeans to a traditional outfit to go out for diner or cinema, can be a spur of the moment thing.
So the ‘how often’ answer is: it depends.
Talc or lube?
Non of the above. I learned how to chlorinate latex and that has become the first act when something new drops in the mailbox. It does remove most of the typical not unpleasant latex odor, but it adds ease of dressing and storage. The fact that is in ON/OFF as easy as a regular jeans, contributes to the frequency of putting something on.
Who knows about it?
I do tend to compartmentalise, so ‘selected’ people in my vanilla network, but of course everybody whom I know from the scene. My attitude changed when my ex-partner tried to use what had been our joint kink against me in our divorce. She tried to depict people in the scene as ‘abnormal’, which triggered me in outing more. Showing to others that a fetish or kink has absolutely nothing to do with social behaviour or ‘normality’ – what’s in a name – in the vanilla world.
How do people react to it?
I’ve never experienced negative reactions. It depends on circumstances, city, … and likely choice of outfit. Popping up at my bank branch in de Miss Piggy gimp suit, might raise eyebrows, but a latex jeans or shirt has thus far only triggered curiosity. Sometimes you run into someone who has similar kink or fetish but does not have the confidence to show it, or people are just curious.
In the network of vanilla friends and acquaintances, at least five people got into the scene because of talks we had. Only two have found out being latex devotees, but the others just found the scene a pleasant, open community, where they can be without being judged.
First and last item you bought?
Very first likely was a short arms/legs bodysuit from Invincible Rubber, when they still had a basement shop somewhere in London.
Last item: devil is in the details … some latex trouser belts to complete the latex jeans combo or just have that little bit of latex on an otherwise completely cloth outfit.
Your favourite item or outfit?
0.6 or 1.0 well fitting catsuits, usually with shoulder zippers for easy of movement,
and if I do not need to interact with people, I prefer to add a hood and the daily choice of gas mask. It contributes significantly to the ease with which I can ‘float away’ from the sensory presence in real life, to that inside-of-my-brain relaxation.
What does your fetish add to your life?
The question should be how does kink, fetish and non-conventional sexuality … because for me it is a diffuse blend of those three. I can wear latex for the sensory and relaxation aspect, without people, without events, without sex. I go to events and have developed the deepest friendships with non-vanilla people. I play (switch) and have extraordinary sensory experiences, sometimes descend in that magical subspace, or it can be part of full sex and bring that element of anonymous bravery or whatever.
So what does it add:
A means to relax, a formidable network of friends, an entry-path into subspace, self-exploration through play (in both the Top and bottom role) and creative sex.
What are your other interests?
Photography, scuba-diving (and underwater photography), motorcycle riding, horseback riding, long walks, keeping up with science, exploring cities, casual talks about life (with strangers), humanitarian assistance … and to add some contrast, model trains.
This question is always frustrating, as it indicates that I must find ways to extend my life span beyond a century…
